Swedenborg's Hatching
In April 1744 when Swedenborg was fifty six years old he experienced a vision of Jesus, which was to change the whole course of his life. In his journal he wrote:-”In the night a strong shuddering came over me from head to foot, with a thundering noise as if many winds beat together, and shook me….I found that something holy was upon me….From that day I gave up the study of all worldly science, and laboured in spiritual things….The Lord opened my eyes…so that in the middle of the day I could see into the other world, and in a state of perfect wakefulness converse with angels and spirits.”(Docs.I,p.35-36)
This painting has been inspired by Swedenborg and the illuminations come from him, I am just a conduit for his work.

Joyce, I’m so pleased you like this painting! I have had a revelation myself today and will be working on a new series of painting, dedicated to Swedenborg and his life. These messages are for us all and I find that the undercurrent of his work is effecting me greatly. I just hope that other people benefit from it as much as I do. Thank you for your kind words Joyce, they mean a great deal to me. They really do!Sx

Hilary, thank you for your kind words and inspiration. Pro.Morton D.Paley began writing a paper on the subject of Blake and Swedenborg in 1974 and finished in in 1978. Paley mentions that Blake’s chief concern was the same as Swedenborg’s; the relationship of the spiritual and natural worlds. There is so much to read and understand. Thank you for commenting! I hope you are well and happy?Sx

reminds me of a dragon fly wing with a warm glow which later turns into a fossil Sophie

Tone, the dragonfly symbolises the ability to go past self-created illusions that limit our growing and change. Dragonflies are a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. They are fantastic flyers, darting like light, twisting, turning, changing direction, even going backwards as the need arises. They are inhabitants of two realms – starting with water, and moving to the air with maturity, but staying close to water. Some people who have the dragonfly as their totem have had emotional and passionate early years, but as they get older they achieve balance with mental clarity and control.
Dragonflies are old and adaptive insects, and are most powerful in the summer under the effects of warmth and sunlight. Their colours are a result of reflecting and refracting the power of light.
The are often represented in Japanese paintings, representing new light and joy. To some Native Americans they are the souls of the dead. Faerie stories say that they used to be real dragons.
Dragonflies are reminders that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so. “Let there be light” is the divine prompting to use the creative imagination as a force within our lives. They help us to see through our illusions and allow our own light to shine in a new vision.
Something we can all relate to Tone! Thank you for sharing your vision – it has inspired me greatly!Sx

It’s ALL about the LIGHT!!!
We are the ones that choose to reflect the power, that is our greatest gift.And…. when we KNOW that for sure we will DANCE and BECOME fantastic flyers that give without loss of LIGHT. Then we are TEACHERS.

Ella, Swedenborg believed and I quote…. Divine Providence has ruled the acts of my life since my youth…so that by means of the knowledge of natural things (through science) I might be able to understand the things which lie deeply concealed in the Word of God, and thus serve as an instrument for laying them bare. Swedenborg has been a teacher to many great minds through the timelines and today he reveals his vision to our generation. What we do with it is up to us. As he believed that *the visible world is merely a reflection of the spiritual world, everything perceived on Earth by the five senses is a “correspondence,” an equivalent of a given state in the spiritual realm….. There are many teachers who enlighten our paths, Swedenborg is one of mine. Thank you for your comment Ella! I really appreciate it!Sx

John, I have been reading rather extensively on Swedenborg and came across an analogy which was written by Harvey F Bellin and states that the natural world strikes specific keys, which pluck specific strings, that play emotionally -charged notes within the chambers of the mind. The music plays on, usually at a volume below perception, but affecting the tempo and rhythm of our actions. I thought you might enjoy that quote as you have such vast knowledge and passion of music. I’m happy that you like this painting John, the pieces are slowly fitting together! Thank you for your inspiring comment, I appreciate it immensely!Sx

I have been fascinated by Swedenborg after hearing of him from friends. I must say, before reading the other comments that this is so strange an image for me. It is beautiful, but looks like something living, like something’s skin. so it also has a creepy quality to it. Like something has been cut open and is exposed. beautiful, though.
