Diogenes
The Greek Diogenes of Sinope was a Cynic philosopher and ascetic. In Diogenes in the Market Place, Jacob Jordaens illustrates the story of the philosopher’s search for an honest man: Diogenes is shown carrying a lantern, which represents his search for truth. He made his home in a large earthenware tub, casting off all worldly goods except his cloak and a drinking bowl. Alexander the Great, an admirer, visited Diogenes and asked if there was anything he required. Diogenes curtly replied: “Yes, step aside, you’re blocking my sunlight.”

wonderful painting sophie. the flames are so warm and inviting. in the green i see towers and buildings to their right at the bottom of the flames 2 faces peer out and the face on the left in red is echoed in the green like the footsteps of history repeating itself dancing with itself.

Waves of postive energy and the lone man searching for the light is what I see, lovely vibrant and energy and wonderful colour use.
I just love your own descriptions though. It set me a little back and I had to watch and reflect to see
the message it gave me. Exellent Sophie you are in touch!
