Mozart's Flute
The Magic Flute was Mozart’s last opera. It was produced at Vienna on September 30, 1791, and on December 5 he passed away.Something that has always disturbed me is that this wonderful composer was never given a decent burial. He was thrown into a commoner’s grave. What I never understood and still can’t understand is why people didn’t get together and bury him with some recognition and dignity?
This painting is for him….Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

I can see and feel every note~!! this is a lovely choreography of music in your work ~ bravo Sophie!!xxx
Sophie Shapiro replied
Linda I have felt upset for years and years that Mozart should end in a Paupers unmarked grave. It shows what a society he lived in and the people he was surrounded by! They wanted his fame and fortune and when he was ill, he died in destitution. Sorry I don’t mean to go on! I’m glad you can feel and see the notes. I’m glad that this painting is done! I’m happy I remembered him! Thank you for your lovely words!Sx

simply stunning…there are a number of faces, one is very clear of a man with a beard, the musical notes are being lifed on the wings of birds, this must be what music ’’looks’’ like as it travels through the air. it’s like the whole Orchestra is playing along, very beautiful Sophie and Guides x
Sophie Shapiro replied
Dawn thank you for these beautiful words…. wonderfully uplifting and inspiring! Thank you!Sx
Susan Epps Oliver
Beautiful work, Sophie. As far as his burial is concerned, as I understand it, by the time anyone cared, no one knew where the grave was. Paupers graves were unmarked. I share your sadness about that :(
Sophie Shapiro replied
Susan great to see you! Hope you’re well? I’m glad that you share my sadness! However we must remember his wonderful music and that it lives on! Thank you for your lovely words! I appreciate them!Sx

The world doesn’t know or recognize a true gift from God. Only those inspired from the Lord Himself can appreciate and honor such a blessing. His grave might be an abominable thing here on earth, but his body only sleeps in that hole. I am certain, one day he will awaken to a glorious resurrection and play music personally for the Lord Himself.

Oh wow Sophie, this is stunning, yes it does look musical, a truly delightful work of art! I can see a face on the left, Mozart perhaps with the grey longish hair pullled back off his face! Wow!
