    Wonderful capture Shannon. I use to live near hakodate…good skiing at night.

  • I spent three hours on train each way from Hirafu, Niseko just to see these guys, although I was very disappointed by their condition. These ones looked ‘ok’ but the others looked very unwell. Saddening

    I am not surprised they didnt look well. It use to be minus 18 for about five months of the year. The only food they would have is what they could scrape up or what the locals/tourists fed them…Cold cold winters in Hokkaido..you can see and almost feel how cold it is by this image. I remember it welll..hard time for all wildlife then..did you ever get to see them in Spring?..Would have been a different story.
