Absolutely adorable! Do they make good pets?

  • Shannon Plummer replied

I don’t actually keep any Geckos. I have various species of Dragons and Monitors but I hear geckos are great and relatively simple to keep – certainly a good beginner species.

I would love one, as I am thinking of getting a pet. Do you know where I could get one? Also… how do I obtain a reptile license?

  • Shannon Plummer replied

You need to apply for a reptile license through your states Parks & Wildlife services – in Victoria it will be the Dept. of Sustainability & Environment – http://www.dse.vic.gov.au

After that I recommend learning as much about the species you want and prepare an enclosure before purchasing the animal. Look for a local breeder through reptiles forums such as Aussie Pythons & Snakes or Australian Reptile Forums there will also be plenty of info on the internet to learn from. That’s the key – learn before getting the animal or it may suffer while you learn from mistakes.
