From the PX3 awarded series – ORDER:SQUAMATA
Rough Scaled Python (Morelia carinata) is possibly the rarest snake in Australia. Only discovered in 1976, this is the only python species to have keeled or ‘rough’ scales, hence its common name. Endemic to northern Western Australia.

Queensland or NSW collection?

Hi Shannon,
Thats a lovely picture of the rare Rough-scale python! It looks as though you have been lucky; you must know someone with one hell of a collection. You were very lucky that they were so trusting and gave out their address to you with all the bad things that have gone on recently. Keep up the amazing work.

Thanks VicHerping,
I am very lucky to get to photograph these collections – my most recent shoot was on some gorgeous Woma, BHP and several vens so check it out, I’m still adding constantly. I know what you mean about trust and the owners know I would never disclose their name or whereabouts – way too risky – it’s sad it has to be that way though.
