David/am pleased you enjoyed this. When I returned from Shanghai I found this wonderful old art book/”John Brack” by Ronald Millar in the Apollo Bay bookstore . It was too expensive but I fell in love with it and his work. I headed to Collins Street and tried to imagine what it was like for him then.. His work is called “Collins Street ,5 p.m.” I also like his work called “The Scissors Shop” and so will post “City Street Busker” for you.

Thats the one, I haven’t seen any of his other work, but that piece really struck a chord with me when I saw it. I actually bought a postcard with the painting on it so that I would remember his name. Just dug it out, it is a great piece of art, as is this.

Would love to do a series on Collins St/well city people/am a great people watcher/could watch them all day!I understand why you bought the postcard. John Bracks’ “Collins Street pm” is featured on the cover of the book and I have it on a stand beside my laptop.It is pure inspiration!

Yep I too love that John Bracks classic. I’d say this also has an element of Russian Constructivist style to it. The brilliant propaganda posters of the early-mid communist era. Some may disagree but to me it shares a similar graphic quality. Again just wonderful.

Well sometimes I use my Finepix s9500 but I also like to borrow my sisters and dad’s camera- EOS 20D for better quality ha-ha.

I started photography last Christmas. I’ve always been interested in arts in general- literature and music for example. But sometimes I like the odd chemistry or math ha-ha. Photography gives me time to unwind from school- VCE, Rowing, and Football…the stresses of school ha-ha.

In our Studio Arts class you’ll be surprised that the teacher doesn’t teach us (anything) about camera techniques, Photoshop but just theory, and advice to get us on track (which she does really well :) ); Tom and I are self taught and we both know how to use Photoshop I guess, and point the camera in the right direction.

Well there you go, if you have any more Q’s just fire away! :)

this is a terrific shot…that touch of red really does it for me. not familiar with John Brack but I’ll have to check out some of his work.

This really reminds me of Melbourne when I used to live there. Friday evening comes to mind ! Rush hour where I am now means I might see five or six cars on the way home! Thanks for the moment of nostalgia.

Find Animation Shop or a easy program making gif and animations and the rest is easy. Or make a journal and ask people who might available to make something for you right now.
