I think people are so “de powered” by authorities that they enact out their own sub conscience mind of “worthlessness” onto the outside world via their inner world. The total loss of personal power or “loss of one’s spirit” then manifests as latent self abuse and suicidal tendencies. The drunk or drugged individual hates him or herself and cares little about life outside and hence gets labelled “zero tolerant” which I feel comes from the Americanisation of religion into “good” and “evil”. If one is not part of our elite puritanical group called “good”, then one is “evil” or “useless” in the eye of “god”. Like a gangrenous limb, the youth are severed as being “useless” to the overall good of the organism. If the “righteous” keep purifying the “wrong” then no one will be left, as it is divisive in it’s approach and void of love. Great work and thought provoking.

    phew/powerful words!

maybe my thoughts are a little more simplistic….....I LOVE youth/YOUTH is beautiful/energetic/full of dreams….........well that is how it should be.

dreams for future must be entangled with EDUCATION.

Thugs in society should not be tolerated.

These THUGS are robbing families of their precious children.

If they are found to have take another’s life through bashing/alcohol related behaviour…..the LEGAL SYSTEM has a duty to REMOVE THEM FROM SOCIETY/throw away the key if the crime is very serious. YOU take another’s right to life and then YOU also SUFFER the same. If the LEGAL SYSTEM is letting society down….... they also should be REMOVED.

If there is no room in the prison system/build more prisons with NO PRIVELEGES.

basic decent treatment of one man for another is a RIGHT.

the question I have to ask

WHO IS TEACHING VALUES THESE DAYS…........

I cannot even ride on a TRAM these days without being witness to BAD behaviour.

Those responsible are drug addicts/alcoholics…and the conductors !
The CONDUCTORS have become a bunch of BULLY BOYS. A camera certainly comes in handy at times!

Values come from parents/grandparents…...BUT in the end the individual must be responsible for one’s own behaviour.

    what is the answer!

maybe MORE POLICE and certainly MORE CONSEQUENCES.

This works on so many levels – and I (regretfully) agree. It should not be necessary for some of the suggested measures, but the cost of not doing so is increasing and already high. Geelong, for example, is becoming almost a war zone at night lately – and substance abuse is the main cause.

  • shanghaiwu replied

    lightsmith

some of these ideas I jotted down as I was listening to the radio

I think our own personal feelings about DRUGS and ALCOHOL must be put aside and we think of the whole of our SOCIETY.

I have observed some of this behaviour and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

reports also coming in that some groups/individuals in our city are just causing havoc for “KICKS” and alcohol and drugs NOT involved.

    both are rather frightening

    thanks lightsmith

  • lightsmith

    lightsmith

Alas, the biggest failure of the 21st century – like all the centuries before it – is that we never really search for the causes, only for fixes to the problems. We never really try to find out why people take certain routes (e.g. drugs, crime etc) except to box them up as ‘baddies’ or ‘stupid’ and then attempt to retrogressively correct a problem that we don’t know anything about…..

We have to implement solutions to deal with the stuff that’s happening – such as reducing the opportunity to abuse drugs, drink etc. It must be done. But (as you’ve show by mentioning that some people do it for ‘kicks’) the root cause is never addressed – but just goes unchecked to manifest in terms of anti-social behaviour, substance abuse, psychological or emotional problems etc…..

If only we’d made as much progress with humanity as we have with technology.

  • shanghaiwu replied

many in out society are struggling

this struggle must be understood BUT something must be done FAST

    a BUBBLEMAIL

“Thing is… I like taking Drugs… Used to take quite hard Drugs… Now only really mild drugs… have had many drugs forced on me… have been held down and injected with said drugs… drugs are not something that you can erradicate completely after many aeons of people having them… This is just my humble, ignorable but well-qualified opinion.”

there are HUGE PROBLEMS behind closed doors as well.

    thankyou lightsmith

and thankyou to the person who sent me the bubblemails….very very much appreciated

    another BUBBLEMAIL

“My HEAD has been treated with every major form of anti-psychotic and anti-deppressant (Against My Will)...
I do not force anything on anyone and actually have not had a smoke in 3 Weeks…
For over 9 Years I have suffered the stigma associated with Mis-Diagnosis and also was about 6.5 hours from death…. also almost got Electro-Shock Therapy… I have led an interesting life… I just feel that Zero Tollerance for having a smoke would be so counter-productive to almost everything that I feel it would be completely impractical.. I do not drink… I find that it makes people less clever in the short, medium and long term… I smoke ciggarettes… I smoke also the other substance that grows from the ground and was accepted practice everywhere until 150 years ago… I am not a bad person and I refute any suggestion that I am because of this…
I am one of few remaining chivilrous souls that I have ever encountered…
Not Modest… But Modesty never slayed dragon nor won fair lady… :)”

  • lightsmith

    lightsmith

I actually don’t really have too bad an opinion about smoking – subject to the following. firstly, they need to remove the chemicals added to the tobacco. Secondly, what people do in their own home without affecting others, in terms of light drugs such as tobacco, is up to them, but once children are concerned, I think great care should be taken to protect them. Most smokers, if given a choice between their children and their cigarettes, would choose their children. Infact, they have that choice but don’t seem to realize it…

  • shanghaiwu replied

    lightsmith

    LOVE your words

” I think great care should be taken to protect them.”

yes /they are our FUTURE/maybe we have ruined it for them already.
