Sitting on my Back Step

While Sitting on my back step
I watch the clouds float by on a sky so blue,
A bird’s call resonates through the air
and when I listen I really don’t have a care.
The sun beats down
heat warming my skin,
a breeze rustles the grass and trees.
While sitting on my back step
the real world is another place
out there somewhere
and I don’t care.
I’m sitting on my back step
enjoying the view
wishing the outside world
would not intrude.
I want to stay in this magical place,
but I know there are other things
that need my attention
so when away,
I dream of returning
To my back step.
