future/past present time paradox by

If we say that the future does not exist yet, we can say also that the past does not exist anymore. In this case, we can say that we as observers exist only in the present. The present has no duration and we, as observers, approximate our temporal position by extrapolating a coherent intersection of what we know from the past with what we expect from the future.

Therefore, the present has no positive attributes itself and relies only on the information granted by the non-existent past and the non-existent future.

or

“People like us who believe in physics know

,
that the distinction between the past, the present
,
and the future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion"

love this irene..i think alot about your question ..today quite a bit.. the past ..hmmm the present..is it?..and the future ..has it been already.. for me, i believe the past is gone yes, but if we a a human race want to continue in this gift of life the we must learn from yesterday and in what i see we dont get that part…we still have wars… omnipotence in thought and greed..so, i look at the future and believe that when the energies of the people become balanced then we will understand how this circle works…
i think you will like this http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/through-the-worm...

have a great day irene..thank you for the morning thoughts..

  • thanks so much for your thoughts on this Terri, this is one I ponder on often too, so intriguing because there are so many theories and yet it remains a fascinating enigma…and thanks for the link on a quick over view I found it very interesting, will have to get back to it, tomorrow as it is past the witching hour here 12.00pm

To quote the immortal words of “Kung Fu Panda”, surely one of the deepest works of philosophy ever crafted:

Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow a promise, but today is a gift, which is why we call it “the present”.

Alas, IMHO, all bollocks. What we refer to as the present is a delayed perception by the brain of external stimuli now in the past.

You might take a different view if you research the strong anthropic principle, the metaphor of the cave, Derrida (pop-philosophy IMO) and phenomenology in general. For even more fun (and understanding), get drunk, watch Kung Fu Panda to understand its deep, deep relevance to the human condition and then try saying “phenomenology” three times very quickly. I did. Most illuminating, but not as much as your impressive art work.

  • Thanks will take your advice but being a one pot screamer Knowing my luck I will pass out in the middle of it all…….so will omit the drink….appreciate your view though…if only I could tap a little more than the said 1/10 of the brain that we use it would be useful……but then again knowing all there is to know about everything might become a bit boring too……I like to have a little challenge once in a while…
