invisible ink

he closed his eyes and
asked her to read to
him the story that beats
from her heart to his
so she softly placed her
fingers on his tanned face
and slowly began to draw
patterns to and fro
and when he sighed and
asked her ‘what are
you doing?’ she leaned
into him and whispered
‘etching every line and
verse of love poems
that ever existed since
time began until now
like invisible tattoos
sinking into your skin
so that it may run like
red ink within your veins
and you can no longer live
without my love’
