The Divine and Unbearable Celestial Love Affair

He traces invisible patterns
onto her body
made of stardust and milkweed prayers
and though his lips aren’t moving
he whispers to her

you are my moonbeam,
flooding me with radiance
even when you are so far away

She smiles so softly
he hardly catches it

She lay quietly, glistening,
the stars of her skin twinkle as his fingers pass
and he wonders what universe her mind is in
as he feels the misty moment already fading

He steadies his breath as he watches
every movement of her body
and imagines, that with
each flutter of her eyelids,
the other side of the world goes dark

His heart chants
say you love me
give me a sign
give me something
and then it skips

She leans forward and,
with tufts of her chestnut hair,
begins to paint on his flesh
delphic letters in mystical amber
that he fears he will never read

They lay together
their bodies a cocooned haze of purple
a secret garden of thistles and fireflies
broken and mended and re-broken hearts

He knew as he awoke in the morning
that although the pale blue linens were still warm
his dusky love had left behind only
the vapor of memories and wanting

But as he strode to the shower,
with naked flesh and bare heart
he saw a glimpse of himself
his body, her canvas,
covered in words of moondust…

I am cursed to dwell in darkness alone;
but you are my golden rays of sunshine
in the early morning dawn
that makes the heat in my blood;
your heart is my ocean,
glistening like a wave of emeralds
luring me out into your deepness

Being apart is a disease of life;
meeting is our medicine.

The river they shall travel on
is winding and swift and full of danger
but their boat shall pass through it

For he is her sunlight
golden and forever warm
his love is her time and space
and she is his ray of light
his bonfire of celestial dreams

    Volutous colours shades and textures. Takes me back to a time before I was born, to a place I know better than this one. Enchanting work.

    Thank you so much Jim… when writing this I had in my heart a feeling of textures and layers… this is what came of it. The feeling you describe, of a time before you were born that you knew better than now, sometimes I feel I partially reside there.. makes me feel so tranquil that you captured it too.

    no worries, my eyes have an auto-correct feature.. they filled in the blanks and figured – voluptuous. comes in quite handy. ;)

    And I’m sure it must indeed go dark Patty Jo – for how else could you have captured all the light in this extraordinary love song. Achingly tender phrases, textures and colors and images that are just magic, no – mythic. A dream you have allowed us to share in this absolutely exquisite poem.
