Insignificance

I was thinking about
your description of his hands,
perfect yet flawed,
and how, in moving,
they recall a sense of
a flock of birds,
startled.

As I read your words
I envision his hands;
they fly in patterns
seemingly of one mind,
like action at a distance,
but at each turn
of a wrist or a finger,
they always leave one
caught off guard,
but catches up soon enough.

Each accepted back into the fold,
and again part of one mind.

i was thinking
of your description
and how your
writing makes me feel marginal.

    Wow,

Firstly, I’m so partial to hands…wrists in particular…

You’ve inspired me…such is the lovely circle of writers.

    Stunning work. xxx

  • ShadowDancer replied

Lisa, I also have a fascination with hands.. they are so magical and capable of not just doing, but showing emotions.. I get so caught up in the words splayed across the vast pages of RB, so emotionally stirred up.. you are one of those that really get to me with your writing. Keep it going, it keeps me going. XX

The flight of the hand is but the echo of thought
The blackened ink a dancer upon the white sheets of ice
The memory of speach immortalize by the passion of word!

You words bring forth beauty! Thank you for the share friend!!!...)o(

  • ShadowDancer replied

Wow Druid.. I love when peoples comments are poems in themselves… so beautiful your own words.. thank YOU!

i wonder at the last part.. why would you say this, seeing I look up to you as a writer, especially the description of the hands becoming as startled birds.. brilliant image in my mind

  • ShadowDancer replied

Red, you too are one that I admire and really knocks me off my feet.. you have an amazing gift with that pen of yours. I suppose we are all our own worst critics, though… putting our words here for others to see is much like slitting our wrists and letting our soul seep out onto the pages.. it gives us such a vulnerability. Thank you for helping ease my own feelings of mediocracy, it means more than you’d imagine.

OHhh this ode to writers is MWah! It so captures the spirit of how writing can be and writing as an observer of this you reminded us of another purpose of writing…..the other partner- the reader, lovely write! XXX

  • ShadowDancer replied

Arcadia,I love that it gave you that reminder.. it’s so fanciful as a writer to think about how you may affect someone else with your own words. As a reader of others poetry, I am reminded of that by the deep pull on my soul that I feel when I read them.

Not that I have any tolerance for objectification which society does so well nowadays, but it is interesting to me the parts o the body that most easily trigger our imagination. While it is not usually hands I am drawn to, this poem is very interesting and makes me wonder Hmmmm have I been missing out? More readily noticing the curve of a shoulder, or the clavicle… Anyways, such a lovely poem – brilliant xoxo

  • ShadowDancer replied 19 days ago

debbie, that is what i love so much about writing and poetry, it allows us to see the world in completely different and paralell ways, sometimes just one sentence or a string of words and ‘bam’ we’re slammed with a new way of seeing. this was written after reading a poem from a friend of mine that focused on the hands of her lover. i, too, was stricken at the thought and caused me to write this in tribute. thank you!
