after he eased up my tee shirt,
undid my bra and tongued my skin,
he now takes me down the hall in the dark
where I fumble reaching for the shower door,
his hand on and off the small of my back.
I’m pulling down my jeans, when he says,
“I’m behind you,”
and suddenly a rage comes
of men behind me:
of a man smiling at me across the way,
innocence invaded by velvet fingers,
hot puffs of breath on the nape of my neck;
of a man who lays locked underground,
nothing but decay of a man I trusted,
whose bittersweet memory I keep safely buried;
of a man who vowed his friendship,
weaving words of magic to capture my soul,
only to unravel them while they spun;
of the man I long for in steamy showers,
who looks the other way and hurries past
to put on his pants, then leaves for work.
I stand in the morning wet,
water streaming over my breasts,
warming the insides of my thighs,
the heat rushing down to my feet
that are stuck
dry to the tiles.
The glass door clicks
when it closes.

Wow, I too thought this was profound, powerful writing. I kind of had to take a bit of a breathe when I read it, due to the images coming in strong over the water, the feeling of your feet dry stuck to the tiles.. just really strong words my friend
