This photo was taken in the Sahara Desert.

The rock buildings in the background are homes from a millenia ago. The white building is a monument for someone from a recent generation that died. The village has now moved about a mile south from the ruins, and most of the people living there are descendants of the original settlers from more than a thousand years ago.

I loved the contrast of the old and new together in the barren desert.

I am a dreamer, artist, and mother. I dance in the rain, spend too much time reading books, and live for my family. I am a gypsy, poet, musician, and artist. But most of all, I am a butterfly fairy. Come dream with me.

You have been places I can only dream about…

  • I never thought I’d be so lucky MtnMan, but I did it, I was dirt poor and alone and I took a chance and went over halfway around the world. It was the experience of a lifetime.

You traveled alone… A very pretty woman and brought back to share with us just that experience! I’m impressed.

  • Oh thanks, it did take courage but I’d do it over again in a heartbeat!

This is amazing, could I ask which country this is in ? I’m thinking Egypt, Tunisia or Morrocco perhaps ?
    h.

  • Thank you h, it’s in Algeria… about 4 hours south of Oran, on the edge where the Sahara Desert begins. Algeria is between Morocco and Tunisia and is a beautiful jewel of a country, still a virgin to US tourists.
