Writer Bubblers - Show the Bubble we want the same functions as other artists
Hey everyone,
One of my biggest disappointments at the bubble has been the lack of contest functions for writers. The way it works for artists is wonderful. Why can’t we have this for writers?
I posted this in the suggestions feed. If you would like to see this function in redbubble, please go to this url and post your comments and vote. The more response we get the more attention the bubble will give it.
It’s time to give our writers as much attention as our other artists on the bubble!

i’ve seen how contests and challanges have torn friends apart and rendered groups to battle zones… i don’t think writing should be about winning contests.. it should be about what moves you… sorry but i have to disagree with you on this one…..b

I completely understand your perspective, butch. While I respect your opinion, and am glad you responded, I don’t necessarily agree with it.
The competitions on the bubble really have no monetary value – they are simply efforts to spur creativity and to share that creativity with the group. I agree challenges aren’t for everyone, which is why you can elect to do it or not – no harm done either way.
Just because some people gravitate to drama doesn’t mean that everyone does. If ‘friendships’ were torn apart over a simple challenge, I must question, was it really a friendship? Those that join contests as a platform for toxicity are easily identified and can be avoided. I personally have effortlessly avoided confrontations on the bubble; I know many others have as well.
My request has more to do with promoting themes and spurring synergistic responses, such as we see on the art side. To say we shouldn’t have challenges to me is like parents that want to forbid all children from playing tag at recess because a few kids a year get broken arms while doing it.
I understand that some writers prefer to write on a whim, that is, whatever inspires them at the moment. Other writers like to be given topics or thoughts and attempt to hone their skills by writing about something they may not have thought to write about otherwise. That’s the beautiful thing about life and art – there are so many different choices, methods, and ways, and they are all acceptable. So challenges may not be for you, but they are for some. We shouldn’t exclude something based on a few.
I will continue to be an advocate for having an easier way to create challenges for the writers, if not for anything else, but for equality in promotion of the craft of literature and the writers that have landed and made their home on the bubble.

you make some very good points… and i bow to your level headed wisdom on this one….. it is not fair of me (or anyone else) to put the poobah on aspirations of other talented artists …. i apologize and wish you good luck in your quest…..... peace and light…..b

Butch, first of all – apology not accepted, because it wasn’t needed! I love freedom of expression as long as it’s done with respect, and yours my friend, was. Like I said before, i completely understand your perspective, but wanted to put my perspective out there as well. I am humbled by your meekness and ability to acknowledge the other point of view.
thank you for sharing such a great display of character.
