God Above
Pencils on paper, cleaned and colored in Photoshop.
The red text is part of a long(ish) poem by an early Arabic poet called Waddah Al-Yaman. In it he tries to convince his lover to let him visit her, but she keeps coming back with excuses and so he keeps having to refute each of them. The verse i used, which is near the end of the poem and is the last thing she mentions(after she already mentioned her dad, her seven brothers, the castle, the sea, and some sort of guard lion) can be translated (courtesy of Wikipedia) to:
She said: “Allah is watching us.”
I said: “My lord is Merciful and Forgiving.”
The first part though can be literally translated to:
She said: “God is above us.”

Gorgeous image.
She said: “I have run out of words, so come tonight when everyone’s floating in dreams, and fall on me like dew, undisturbed.”
Now that is sensual.
