Coastal getaway

Coastal village in the middle of nowhere on an island off the coast of West Papua. The locals who live here are caretakers of an ancient (and eerie) burial site – Badwa, The Place of Heroes.

Famous warriors and chieftains have their bones packed into hollowed out logs and have their remains interred in various limestone cliffs and caverns in the surrounding area and islands. I felt very privileged to be given a tour…..

Really hard to describe the feel of the place. It was very peaceful…and yet…I had this eerie feeling that I couldn’t shake. Like there was some hidden wisdom/power about the place.

I don’t often get that being such a skeptic that I am. LOL – I am so rambling here!

{{shudders}} I went on the tour with my sister, the previous week we had watched Halloween H2O. When we finished the tour, we went out to the carpark and there was a hideous bloody van just like in Halloween parked out the front. To top things off all the windows in our car were fogged so you couldnt see if there was anyone lurking inside!!!

It’s a great place to go for hols and still fairly undiscovered too! Facilities were fairly basic but the scenery and people were wonderful!
