Time has told me, you came with the dawn, a soul with no foot prints, a rose with no thorns - (version 3) by

This is a photo of my painting but inverted.Oil on canvas. I had this image in my head as a sketch for a very long time before i attempted to bring it into reality. Ive been drawn to the symbolism of birds (or the shadows of birds) representing the soul/peace/spiritual freedom since i graduated back in 2006…and still am. The cage like image on the left is actually a lantern, i wanted it to represent light/lamp and a cage at the same time.

The title is from a Nick Drake song that moves me very much. I saw Krystal Warren sing this in Manchester 18th Oct 2010, completely blew me away with her version. Moved me to tears. What a voice and what depth she has in her singing!

Time has told me
You’re a rare rare find
A troubled cure
For a troubled mind.

And time has told me
Not to ask for more
Someday our ocean
Will find its shore.

So I`ll leave the ways that are making me be
What I really don’t want to be
Leave the ways that are making me love
What I really don’t want to love.

Time has told me
You came with the dawn
A soul with no footprint
A rose with no thorn.

Your tears they tell me
There’s really no way
Of ending your troubles
With things you can say.

And time will tell you
To stay by my side
To keep on trying
‘til there’s no more to hide.

So leave the ways that are making you be
What you really don’t want to be
Leave the ways that are making you love
What you really don’t want to love.

Time has told me
You’re a rare rare find
A troubled cure
For a troubled mind.

And time has told me
Not to ask for more
For some day our ocean
Will find its shore.

Sukhwinder Flora’s poetry feature, “Carried in the Wind” exposes realms of existence trapped between the past and present. In the spirit of an urban legend storyteller, Flora writes with discernment and wisdom beyond her years. Her Poetry has the authority of urban legends that have been carried on the wind for centuries.
