I was born loving art. My father was a very talented artist. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Western Carolina University, where I concentrated in printmaking and did cartooning for the college newspaper. Since then I’ve done designs, illustrations, cartoons, and logos for Chambers of Commerce, newspapers, regional magazines, industry, and individuals. From 1974-1994 I was the Advertising and Visual Merchandising Manager in three Belk Department Stores in the Southeast USA. I specialized in newspaper ads, special sales brochures, ad campaigns, and in-store events. All through my busy professional life whenever possible I did artwork on commissions and for the artist within me. Art is what I have to do…it is in my soul, and if I’m not doing it then I’m not happy with myself or the world around me. I’m currently doing work in pen and ink, photography, linoleum prints, acrylic painting, and Compullages™. I love illustrating music. Among the many great artists that I admire are: Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Albrecht Durer, Kathe Kolwitz, Kokoshca, Kandinsky, Monet, Rousseau, Chagal, Stuart Davis, and Norman Rockwell. I have exhibited in Raleigh, NC, Asheville, NC, Hendersonville, NC, and Athens, GA. at galleries and in seasonal art exhibits. I now happily have the time to concentrate on my art full time, which is a joy. I hope you enjoy the work of my life which is also the love of my life (aside from my family of course).
