Karma’s a bitch: love comes whether you see it or not

Feed me to the lions—
God knows I
would do the same
for you.

If not you,
than who, my love?
Who better than to gift me
a death?—
the miracle
of beginning again.

Who better
to sew up my dues
with black ribbons
fool wrapped
in honey?
By Kali’s
three-way black eye,
weaving
her head-turning poisons
back
like hurricanes
into the mouths
of prisoners.

Who better to chance me
a more beautiful shape
of being,
than eternity with her gown
to the floor—
her body
made of heavens and sweet
succulent blooms
spun from a lyre’s
hazy
immaculate web—

and just that much
closer to God.

I thank you,
my horrible, beautiful,
lost and found love
for learning each chord
of my lute,

then breaking it’s notes

down
to feed.

Karma’s a bitch: love comes whether you see it or not by

In the midst of all the lovey dovey poetry coming out for V-Day, I felt the need to post the otherside of love: the not so pleasant, but equally necessary and beautiful act of love which is playing the part of destroyer to the ones we love the most, re: helping us pay back our karmic debts; for who better suited to slay a heart, and give it a chance to grow stronger and even more divine, than the ones we love who are closest to us?
this is the greatest gift, even if at the time, we cannot see it as such.
so this is for all who’ve been broken, and for the ones who broke you.

and thanks to Robin Monroe for contributing this fab image to go along with the poem. It’s as amazingly beautiful as she is. :)

you are one amazing gifted woman….You have captured the other side of Love with perfection.. For Love comes in many different hues and flavors…love this:)

  • Robin, you are so kind; thank you for that.
and yes, yes it does. It helps in the hard loss times to rememeber this…even in the back of the mind.

Like a shovel full of hot coals, K. Wow.

  • :) Kali is a hard one, and one to be reckoned with—but she is only the other side of love. there must be two sides to recieve the alchemaic third.

    thank you.

So raw and powerful, stunning in its truth, Kristin. You’re an amazing talent, my friend – and your book is filled with equally powerful imagery and a flow of words that has become part of the marrow of my bones. xox

  • ah, you flatter me lianne, and are far too kind. I am rather down on the whole me being a writer, thing lately. but it is so nice to hear coming from you.
hope you are well, always, K

It’s a beautiful thing to watch you take the truth and run with it, Kat. Very well done, insight, execution, and effect. You will never cease to amaze me, just unravel your mind a bit, and I’m hooked. Fantastic poem!
