Love Cast Upon Words
Cast light and careful shadows. It took 4 different shoots with the same concept to get the image that I wanted, but I think it was well worth it.
Canon Rebel XT w/ 18-55mm kit lens.

What a great idea, fantastic shot.
Scott Remmers
Great shot!! What kind of light did you use for this?
imageworld
great imagination! the shot works really well, kinda sussed out how you managed it, I think? love it to bits,
Amandalynn Jones
scott: thanks! I used a flashlight in a dark room, that’s what created that strong ring of light. :)
imageworld: it took a long time, 4 different tried before I got it right, and I had some help, my husband was holding the light for me. I hope that’s what you meant by how I managed it?
Empress
More details! What made you think of it, why that book…
Amandalynn Jones
Empress: Well it had been a concept I’d seen before(the ring casting a shadow of a heart on the open book pages), but I wanted to add my own twist to it so I used a flashlight with a circular beam to cast the heart shape with light. The right in my engagement ring, the book was originally my husband’s poetry book in the first couple of shoots, but I changed it later on because the poetry verses didn’t leave enough words on the pages and it looked rather blank… so I used “Legends of New Jersey” because it had a character named “Juliette”, which references the romance(and ties into the overall ‘love’ theme of the composition) of “Romeo & Juliette”(which I didn’t at that time have a copy of).
Samantha Van S...
well worth the effort-really beautiful. That will make fabulous wedding invites for someone…
gordontant
WOW
This is a stunning photograph. One thought I had was you could re shoot it using pages from marriage vows?
But still a wonderful photograph
Mark Walker
Serenity… nice very nice take on the concept. ;-) (You know what I mean, without saying too much!)
Mark Walker
No I have looked again, it’s way better than mine….well done!!!! Excellent!!
Empress
Thanks, always want to know the reasons/inspirations behind even if the answer is “accident” “serendipity” or “just happened” because that’s reassuring.
I did suspect Juliette and liked that it wasn’t R&J.
jess
wow this is amazing. what is the book?
Elena Ray
an immediate classic
Charlie
Very beautiful and a classic…nicely done!
Anne van Alkemade
It’s beautiful – perfect! How did you get the idea??? (rhetorical) but I wonder if you saw a shadow out of the corner of yoru eye and thought – hey! Or the logic of how shadows fall … Your description is asking to be created as an image too! “Careful light and Careful Shadows” – how cool is that. Great work.
nsoup
This catches my eye everytime i open the home page. Fantastic symbolism and very creative.

JaclynShannon721
one word…. AMAZING !
Amandalynn Jones
Gordon – I have been asked by couples to shoot similar arrangements with their wedding rings/vows/passages. I think it’s a wonderful wedding theme. :)
Jess – Legends of New Jersey (or Lost Legends of New Jersey, something like that)
Anne – Thank you! It’s actually an old concept, done a million times over, and I don’t in any way deserve credit for putting the ring on the book, the light heart though, that was originally my idea and it came about because the only thing I had at the time to cast a strong enough shadow was a flashlight…
All – Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to this piece!
Th350Lj
this is a really deep image. The shadow created is clever in its self. the fact that the shadon has formed a shaply heart nd there is a ring present suggests a theme of love xx lou xx
