How I got into photography...

Back when I was a kid my brother started getting into Black and White photography for a few years before pretty much stopping… So in college I was a broadcasting/telecommunications major and noticed that photography would cover some of the mundane classes. So I borrowed my brothers camera and signed up for the class. This was my first time using a SLR. So bought all the film and development paper and went out to take some pictures. Since it’s film and at the time it was expensive to me, being a poor college student. So I took about 1 roll/week… I would develop them and print a few that I thought were decent… but I never got one decent shot the entire class. (Wound up having to drop out of the class since I was a few projects behind and it was evident that i wasn’t going to do well)
So fast forward 6 years.. I hadn’t picked up a camera (other than little point and shoot digitals) I was at a party and a friend that’s into photography let me play with his camera. I ended up taking about 100 pictures and some came out decent… So I started to save for a nice DSLR. I was just about to go buy the Nikon D70 when I read about the D80 coming out in 4-5 months… I decided to wait and ordered one the day it was released. I bought a 1GB card and soon after a 4GB since I saw how long the battery would last. I started taking HUNDREDS of pictures. I was disappointed with most of my pictures because while they looked good they just did nothing for me… So I spent some time online looking at tips and tricks… That’s when composition started coming back to me… I have just finally started to like some of my pictures from the past few months. (All my pictures on here where taken from June – Aug this year)
Now I have been doing a lot more and talking with photographers at weddings and online I’m starting to want more and more equipment. So since my hobby’s budget doesn’t allow this… I figured I would hope to try to sell some of my stuff to be able to buy things. First up macro rings then a good flash.
That’s my short photography life story :)
