The Red Deer is the UK’s largest land mammal. The Red Deer’s summer coat is reddish brown to brown, winter coat is brown to grey & no spots are present in the adult coat. The Stag’s have large highly branched antlers. Red Deer migrated into Britain from Europe about 11000 years ago & are widespread and locally common. The Stag will adorn his antler’s with grass & other foliage to make them more appealing to the Hinds when they are in season.
