Selfportrait, Honolulu 2004
As i’m working on a couple new projects (i just got a video-camera…*gleeful giggles) I’m going to be uploading several of my very first self-portraits. This one was taken the day i got my back-brace, a week post-spinal injury, my cane in tow, most likely flying on vicodin…
Hope you enjoy.

Ooomph! This has an emotional kick that’s winding. Also, it works on a metaphorical level – the room is suggestive of a jail cell. A young prisoner just interred in a prison of pain and debility contemplates her new reality. Heartwrenching.
God, that place looked like a room in a mental-ward :). Cinderblock apartments are all over the place in Honolulu.
Your comment is spot on as always, Hots. Thank you.
