Cane Blues by Selkie

Old-school photo, 2004.

I took this after my spinal injury. At the time, i was told i may never walk without a cane again, and could expect to end up in a wheelchair.
I haven’t used the cane for some time; even when it hurts like a bitch to walk without it, i just can’t seem to reconcile myself to using it anymore. Call it pride, or maybe just stupidity. But i figure the day will come when i won’t be able to leave it in the closet anymore – i’m just hoping that day doesn’t come till i’m at least 70. :)

I like this picture very much and I believe you can heal completely yourself if you so desire and believe.
I think it is a very worthwhile exercize to do it, you can find a lot more about yourself and what makes as the human race at its best.
    God bless you.

  • Thank you V.

this is real portraiture selkie . . . with such a real story behind your beautiful eyes . . . the nointer in me would be using the cane as a signature prop . . . for good & not so good on occasion . . . putting the obvious reason for its exhistence & your stregth to throw it away aside for a sec i’d be having as much fun as i could with it . . . i broke my leg years ago & got hold of a manekins leg as a sort of spare . . . took it with me to parties & picnics until someone stole it !!!
    love your work sweetie

  • Heh, i considered the prop thing – did use it for lots of photos and still will at some point but…man the think irks me :).

I love the mannequin-leg story, lol!!
    Thank you, Amanda!

Love the edigint here! Ok. Look at the word “editing”
I just typed. Either I’m dyslexic (I am) or am really excited
    about the editing. (I am)

;) Love what you did with your eyes.

  • Hee hee…you’re cracking me up, Birgitta :). Thank you so much!

Intense, honest, sad, hopeful….so many emotions. Having lived with a terrible back the only thing that keeps me walking is lots of abdominal exercise which ensures my discs don’t slip. I would never want for such pain to inflict anyone.

God bless you for having the courage to share your pain but also your great hope
