Jiang Shi are Chinese vampiric creatures who suck the life-essence of the living. Like most mythological vampires, they are a bit anal-retentive and can be distracted by throwing rice in their path – it is said they are compelled to count every grain before they can continue on…

Isn’t that just the weirdest? I think it’s amazing how even languages that have no etymological mutual history can sometimes intersect in the most serendipitous ways….
