There's Beauty in the Breakdown

Selfportrait, series

Drink up babydoll
Are you in or are you out?
Leave your things behind
‘Cause it’s all going off without you
Excuse me too busy
you’re writing a tragedy
These mess-ups you bubble-wrap
When you’ve no idea what you’re like

So, let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It’s all right
‘Cause there’s beauty in the breakdown
So, let go
Just get in
Oh, it’s so amazing here
It’s all right
‘Cause there’s beauty in the breakdown

It gains the more it gives
And then advances with the form
So, honey, back for more
Can’t you see that all the stuff’s essential?
Such boundless pleasure
We’ve no time for later
Now you can wait
You roll your eyes
We’ve twenty seconds to comply

So, let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It’s all right
‘Cause there’s beauty in the breakdown
So, let go
Just get in
Oh, it’s so amazing here
It’s all right
‘Cause there’s beauty in the breakdown

you’re an amazing woman to share your experience and reveal your past pain in true artistic form is not only graphic, touching, but powerful to the point of realizing, that truely, we artist are human, with struggles, and pleasures, and pains. I am in tune to your powerful self keep up the creativity dear

  • Selkie replied

Thank you for that, Reynaldo – true words, those.

Amazing shot~! i like everything about it…except for one thing—-i would NEVER want you to try that for real…you are far too precious.

  • Selkie replied

    Try what? I’m confused…
But thank you so much :).

  • Selkie replied

..unless you’re meaning the bruises on my arm…that’s from an IV; i’‘m not mainlining H, lol.
Read the description on that photo, you’ll appreciate the irony…:)

i thought i saw blood in the tub…and with your hands up like that, i thought it was symbolic of suicide-so i was saying that i love the photo but wouldn’t want you to attempt that for real…that’s what i meant—but i know you’re here on the planet..so i am okay. :-D

  • Selkie replied

I’m far too ornery to die…:)
I see what you are saying – and the red cast to the photo is indeed symbolic of blood, but more psychological than physical, if you know what i mean.
    Thanks, G, you’re sweet. :)

hmmmm…. I can’t see any beauty in mine, yet – but you are so gorgeous sitting in that bathtub! maybe I should go sit in mine for a while… thanks selkie:) I love your work:)

  • Selkie replied

I think the beauty comes from the insight, compassion and depth one can achieve after such emotional turmoil…if only we can see it, even breakdowns have something worthy in them.
Now go sit in that tub, missy :)

Bathtubs have been sort of elevated into the realm of the symbolic for some of us, haven’t they?
    Thank you so much, Kim.

    The bathtub.

The lofty ideas people have about it…

Add some bubbly lavender shit, and your problems become nil.

Oh, and it’s a good place that many choose to die in.

    WTF, right?

  • Selkie replied

Right? That’s sort of the idea i had with these shots…ironic the exits we use, that used to just be benign escapes till something breaks…
