Artist's Description

I took the photo of this unusual looking plant at the Jardin des Plants in Paris, the main botanical garden in France. Fuller’s teasel (Dipsacus Fullonum) is an introduced weed. Native Americans and Europeans used the bristly heads to card wool and raise the nap on woolen textiles.

The photo was taken on October 13, 2007.
