This is for fellow RB artist Bette Devine!

While taking this photo the zoom lens was having problems with the focus and the motor was starting to make an unusual noise. About 2 captures later the lens froze in place…..and I now have a new camera!

  • Hi Manon, this was one of the last pics taken with the old camera:( Other than the pink color, the flowers remind me of popcorn! Thanks for the fav and comments;) Sandy

Yes, Sandy – this one is nothing like my little flowers. There are so many variations within species. Very confusing at times. I’m not much of a botanist, though a flower-lover. It’s a pretty nice photo in spite of your focusing troubles!

  • Thanks Bette! Unless it is something I have grown in the yard, I am also limited in botanical knowledge-just happened to take a photo of the descriptive plate next to the plants..lol! Sandy

I had to jump in and take a look, as I thought I recognized the flower from the thumbnail. Not only that, but I know the exact spot where you captured this: at the entrance to the upper meadow (sometimes referred to as the “wedding meadow”) at South Coast Botanic Garden. I hang out there a lot and have also photographed these very flowers many times (I can almost smell them). Lovely and delicate!

  • Hi Celeste, yes, you are correct! Even though I live in the San Francisco Bay Area I visit my daughter in Torrance fairly often. Several years ago she took me the Garden for Mother’s Day. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a yearly membership this last year and always spend time there when I am in the area. Thank you for your comments! And, it’s always great to have someone know and understand the area. Sandy

    Lovely capture Sandy

  • Thanks Polly, just read your RBmail, and this…whatever it is…LOL. I was wondering if the description placque could be for another plant on the other side? I appreciate your efforts in the discovery and for the favorite:) Sandy

I’m also a member at this garden (the reciprocal memberships with other gardens make it a wonderful bargain). Feel free to contact me when you will be in the area, as it’s always fun to meet other photographers!

  • Thank you Celeste! I am currently thinking about the 1st-2nd week in Dec, but may wait until after the 1st of the year! Yes, there are a number of gardens in the SF Bay Area that I patronize, thanks to the reciprocal membership. I will sent you a RB mail when I make a decision.
