Yesterday we had such a gorgeous evening – a beautiful sunset over the Thames, relatively mild weather, and everyone was out to enjoy it! I noted with amusement that it’s easier counting the people who do not have a camera, rather than the ones with camera as everyone was photographing the sites of London, from tourist snaps of "please would you take a pic of us in front of all that (with a sweeping gesture at the Eye or the skyline of the financial square mile or Big Ben etc …)) or the more serious who were out with tripods and massive lenses, each casting a critical eye at the kit of the other … lol … it was a funny night.

Anyhow, I hadn’t really anticipated being down at the Southbank at that time of day, so I wasn’t equipped with tripod, which was a shame really … but this was a shot I quite enjoyed & like the results of – it was shot at dusk, so there’s s till a fair amount of light in the sky, but also the lights that illuminate the Eye at night have been switched on

I think this shows all the signs of a great photographer’s eye. It isn’t only finding a unique view of what must be one of the most photographed sites in London but it can also stand on its own just as an interesting shape or pattern and it is technically perfect. For a moment I thought it was a bicycle wheel.

  • you know, we can go bicycling through the skies with this to heart’s content if you wish !!! ;)
    lol
You’ve left me an incredible note and very humbling compliment here. I am sorry I have taken so long to respond (lots been going on)
… I hope you are right about the signs of the photographer’s eye here … I’ve just gotten a job as ships photographer aboard the cruise ships!! – I get to shift careers from insurance to the creative passion of vision ;) Let’s hope these eye’s learn see more and more in an ever refined way, huh? ;) lol
