Instructions for September
Written for my final manuscript for a poetry class.
literally, Russian for «and the rain walks,» though it is used to say that it is raining
*simple code for «but beware the pawns»
Do not allow the pigeon at your stoop
to come inside, for it is a hawk.
When the moon is in your window,
the owl is in hiding,
и дождь идёт.
After the rainy spell,
let loose lead kisses to the queen,
ohg orjnar gur cnjaf,*
twelve of two,
where they hide in dark squares.
At the close of September,
do not forget to remember me.
