Temptation…Secrets revealed to the little bird. The Hedonistic Magus..is trying to conquer her heart..not because he loves her..just because.. he will engulf her apparent innocence.Just apparent.Coquetterie on the other side of the chasm.Temptation…Who will win?Rosa (outstanding ink work.. love them..)
Thank you for your poetical written thoughts Rosa. Of course the compliments are also nice to read..
It brings me a smile when I see that you see the innocence of the right part in this way. Some of my drawings are full of ‘hidden’ or multiple (concrete) ways of interpretation. Just like her ‘Magus’ (as you see it), the person on the right could indeed bears more character representations…
who is the man in the crevice who observes it all?
Hehe… such an old drawing… hmz… What do you think that man is doing there? Should he’ve been somewhere else or did faith brought him there?
– Sebastiaan Koenen
Sebastiaan, I think this man is in the state of choise, he is in between of these two sides…..looking at the right side…however him being in the crevice unlikely will help him to get out on either of the sides…..because any choice requires much effort….as to get out of this crevice. I also noticed the moving car in the direction of the smoking man….always easier to go there cause on the other side youll have to walk by foot, bare feet even maybe :-)as for the person to the right…i wouldnt say innocent…..id say reckless… not only by the expression but also by the pants which seem to fall off soon! hahahahaher and the bird are looking away from the smoking man…..however it is only the bird who might be able to fly over the wall….while the person is fixed in observation of what is in the hands….hiding thoughts behind this walls which look like a castle of sand….the smoking person to the left is trying to reach for the person on the other side and the movement of branches emphasizes it….however his levitation pose is still stuck in the stone…..he is not the one to reach for the other person unless the last one wishes it to happen. And in this general image…..the person in the crevice turns out to be a silent observer…too distant to influence or change anything….
Interesting and a beautiful interpretation Anastasia! I’m going to thing a little bit about it.
Despite these words I do want to give you another small clue. When you close your eyes a little bit and still focus on the fruit, you might see what I’ve could have accentuated more! Maybe in another version, but I’m surprised what you see.
oh yes, and the gender of the person to the right is quite doubtful…..
Although that’s probably not totally within the symbolic meaning, I can understand your thoughts. However, do close your eyes and try to focus on the fruit.
do the “apples” make the eyes?
i can clearly see two faces looking at each other now formed by the whole figures from both sides…..
Nice to hear this ‘hidden thing’ worked a little bit after all. When I see this drawing now, I have to admit it could have been much stronger according to this last ‘big picture’, but that’s for another time.
it’s great!!!!!!!! I mean no actual eye contact, but at the same time they are looking at each other with their whole being!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!awesome job, Seb!!!!
Thanx Anastasia! For myself these two ‘whole beings’ somewhere formed into an old man and old ‘witchy’ woman
probably that is what the future has in store fot them! lol!
dont be too critical with yourself about making these things very discernible…..it is more interesting the way it is. in addition I am sure your drawings look absolutely different in flesh.
Thanx for that. You’re right about not being too critical but on the other hand, as you mentioned, it can be interesting how these things work out in color.
