...Mental balance stays a virtue…

An idea I had lately when I was sketching before going to sleep.. Thought it was strange and funny enough to work it out.

your art is so rich in symbolism.

That’s a great compliment Jono. Thanks!

By the way, you seem to be awake this late also!

  • Sebastiaan Koenen replied

By the way 2, I see that I forgot some part of the drawing to fill in… sigh… well, there’s always tomorrow…

  • Erika .

    Erika .

This is so awesome, and like Jono said, amazingly surreal!! you’re really talented, I mean, if you can draw a hand, in detail, knuckles and everything, you can draw anything! haha! I like this so much. :)

  • Sebastiaan Koenen replied

Although technique stays something you can or have to improve endlessly, i’m happy that I have re-exercised the human anatomy last year and now are able to draw things more freely. In the end it is just like music; you have to know and feel your technique (which is eventually mathematics) to forget that same technique and let things go free.

  • Sebastiaan Koenen replied

    And thanks by the way!

Think balance is so important for our thinking heads. We so often get ahead of ourselves in our thinking and hurt our bodies by rushing and not truly savouring experiences.

  • Sebastiaan Koenen replied

Thanx for your interpretation Tony! Absolutely true words… I’m sometimes stuck in that phase also and it can definitely hurt! Certainly when you combine it with extreme adhd moments hehe..

Thinking of it again, you are the first one who has given a more concrete explanation of your thoughts. I have to be honest that when I was at the beginning of this drawing, I hadn’t all the symbolic ideas in mind; it just grew and indeed has much to do with mental balance/stability…

  • Tony Ryan

    Tony Ryan

Thats cool. Think the image just spoke to me at a time when fate was telling me how important it is to not let your emotions and head get ahead of your heart which to me is the source of foundation for any human.
