When creating art in a genre of imagery that has been done countless time by an enormous number of talented artist it is a huge challenge to create something original that is at the same time is meaningful to myself and my potential viewer. I see that challange as something to strive for. Maybe I’ll get lucky and actually pull it off. Time will tell. In this particular series of work I’ve used abstract expressionist painting as my guiding light. I would get up in the morning then go out and approach the world as if it were my palette. The process involved hunting down the colors and forms I wanted. Capturing them and then later that day fusing them into emotionally charged imagery that was in essense residue of the process. I was attempting to use reality the way Jackson Pollack used paint. Sometimes when I tell people this they smile and give me this look as if I’m crazy. I think not. The reason being that in the process of doing what I did and making what I made I had an amazing journey of discovery. I discovered beauty I never knew existed. I’m not really sure why I wrote all of this. Perhaps it’s the wine. So here’s a toast to life, love and beauty.
