Apatosaurus louisea

Artist's Description

This morning I went for a walk with my dad, and we stopped by a collection of farm animals; I petted a goat that had very much this expression.

This was the dinosaur that was once given the wrong skull and then named Brontosaurus.

In order to get the line work for this piece I used Illustrator’s Live Trace function to transform the initial pencil sketch into hard black-and-white.

I’ve been using this technique for about a year now and continue to become more and more enamored of it — it’s much like an etching type of process where the piece goes through a series of states until I achieve a result that works as much as a result of the process as of my intent.
