so exciting, found this old photo in my old NY album, thought I’d scan it. I had a Pentax back then I had bought in a tourist shop in Time square (young and naive…), but when i came back to live in Paris, I later got a dog who grabbed the strap from a shelf, and the camera broke… i never bought another decent camera for almost a decade…

Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean the weather…. I live in a cold area of Germany!!!!
I can only say this work captures this feeling of frozen feet perfectly and brings it back to my body… But this is not a reason to blame you, but to give you a great compliment; So well done!!

  • thanks faceart. I must say i wasn’t quite used to that kind of cold, the wind factor was close to -20, and my reaction was to burst in laughter it was so weird! i could’nt stop laughing!

You’ve done a wonderful job of capturing NYC cold. Thanks for the story too.

  • thanks Tania! glad you like the story ;-) i just remembered the frustration of not being able to afford a new good camera, maybe i just didn’t want to replace my pentax i loved so much, maybe i just waited for the digital age ;-)

As the phrase goes: NY is a ‘living movie set’ – countless movies such as Taxi Driver, Ghostbusters, Wall Street, Fame, Saturday Night Fever, Marathon Man,
The Taking of Pelham 123, Serpico, Mean Streets – I could go on.

Sufficed to say – you photo evokes a mood, an atmosphere – the feeling of cold through the photo, 70’s cars plus big advertisements plus cold like no other – why its New York – Chicago is a close second :o) Another winner.

  • I can’t believe i missed your comment gottheshot… Thanks again, always gives me another perspective, love to see what you see!
