Duncan of Jordanstone graduate in illustration and printmaking 2000.

After 10 years of painting the Scottish landscape, my recent work becomes more involved with cloudcover and its effect on light and colour through both its translucent and opaque properties. Clouds have the ability to refract and reflect, creating an ever changing perception of light which inspires my use of colour.

Thank you for sharing your creative process. Love the more abstract way you are painting but not over the top. What colour did you use in the first video for the darks, it looks black on my computer but expect this is not the case .When you are glazing do you leave the painting to dry a little first?

  • Thanks Pat. The colour used at the beginning is a chromatic black made from quinacridone rose and pthalo green. The process of glazing is always done on a dry base. If you go to MY CHANNEL you’ll find out much more about my processes, glazing in particular.

Something new here! I like the way the light is broken into these blips of color, Scott. They hold my eye on the painting. I see you’ve got a video on this one. Great! I’ll have a look!

Congratulations on your SoJie awards today, especially your Gallery Award.
