Introducing leggings. You’ll never run out of inspiration.

Barra is a small Island South of Uist in the outer Hebrides.
oil on canvas
original size: 90 × 60cm
Located adjacent to the beach where the plane lands on Barra, this Croft, appears framed by the Gulf Stream aqua waters which complement the contrasting Red roof.

Duncan of Jordanstone graduate in illustration and printmaking 2000.

After 10 years of painting the Scottish landscape, my recent work becomes more involved with cloudcover and its effect on light and colour through both its translucent and opaque properties. Clouds have the ability to refract and reflect, creating an ever changing perception of light which inspires my use of colour.

I’m beginning to recognise your style. And Barra is one of my favourite places too:-) Another great work and really postcard picturesque! The light and colours were like that the day I landed just near there.

Even thought I said I couldn’t really choose a favorite, I would say this is high on my list. The boat is what captivates me. It appears as though this is painted in low tide so the boat is beached and tied waiting for the water to return. Just a small glimpse of the road so perfectly leads the eye to the cottage……wonderfully done!!
