This calendar shows a selection of recent paintings from Glasgow based landscape artist Scott Naismith.
Scott uses vivid colours in a vigorous application to represent the fast changing light conditions of the West coast of Scotland. Colour use often becomes an entirely emotional response to the subject while tone can remain representational.
The love he has for his native Scottish countryside is portayed in his work through an ebullient energy with which he handles the colour with pallette knife and brush.

After 10 years of painting the Scottish landscape, my recent work becomes more involved with cloudcover and its effect on light and colour through both its translucent and opaque properties. Clouds have the ability to refract and reflect, creating an ever changing perception of light which inspires my use of colour.

Fantastic collection Scott, one thing that really sets your gorgeous skylines apart is the motion you create within them. One can feel the clouds moving above them as they view. Very successful calendar, one that I know will do well.
Thanks, made it up to take a few to the exhibition in a couple of weeks, hoping they get here on time!

Great idea to take them to your exhibit. The collection is beautiful. I take it these are the works that will be in your exhibit, then?
Yep, there’s a couple sold so 11 of the 13 images will be there.
