Tomorrow
The high mountains carved out into the sky
Cast sleepy shadows on the town below,
While the frozen night light holds peace.
Logs burn bright in the calm of the cabin.
The tranquillity of life is endless
Here, in this most welcome release.
At the top of the road, buried in snow,
The grand log cabin stands like a statue;
The heart of a beautiful dream.
Snowshoes and skis lean against the still wall,
As if they’re exhausted from overuse
For there’s nowhere they have not been.
The streets outside are filled with an outburst
Of calm, nonchalant happiness as the
Occupants of the cabin tell
Stories from somewhere else to their kids, and
Though they sit in front of a burning fire,
They couldn’t be further from hell.
