Even J. Robert Oppenheimer was a child before he grew to become the man who led the team responsible for creating the atomic bomb. I’m sure as a child he never dreamed he would grow to be the man that he was. The burden that he created for himself must have been terrible……

Do you ever wonder what the children of today will grow to inflict upon the world?
Can they learn from the mistakes of those who’ve gone before them….

Very perceptive description, I wonder that while raising my own 3 boys. What will they grow up to be, to do? We can only hope they are learning form the mistakes of those that come before them. Very poignant and your photomanip is awesome!

  • We can only guide them and let them make their own choices. They’ll be what they’ll be, yes?

I’m so glad you like this Rebecca, Thankyou so much :))

Marvelous Rosemary! I have often too wondered about the very same thing… children never say “I want to grow up to be the bad guy”… so what happens? What goes wrong to make some people become so hateful and intent on destruction? Or, in the case of Oppenheimer, perhaps just a child’s curiosity to create something remarkable… I love your work, Rosemary. Your photo-manipulations are amazing… your own inner child’s creativity ;)

  • Poor Oppenheimer was a brilliant physicist. His mother must surely have nurtured his affinity for the sciences, just as we do when our own children show an interest in a particular subject, sport or hobby.
He must have seen the Manhattan project as such an exciting challenge in the beginning. I do feel for him.

You’re so nice to mention my photomanips Jen! Truth be told I have soooo much to learn, so this is just 1 step in that process. But I feel good about finally having the time to give to it….. briefly ;-)

Goodness, that’s deep, Rosemary! My two kids were nicknamed Search and Destroy when they were little, and Search is now out searching the world, and Destroy is keepin it local, with things just falling apart in his hands on a regular basis. I’d not want to be having to live with what Oppenheimer did, that’s for sure and certain! Fabulous work!

  • It is a bit deep isn’t it – apologies for dropping that on you so early in the morning Mel.
It’s funny that your kids were Search & Destroy….. we’ve taken to calling ours Chaos & Mayhem (with the greatest of love of course) – it’s just seems to be a very appropriate term for them at this age.
