Gazing back down the tracks always makes me look to the past. An obvious association to make perhaps….. I think it’s that sense of perspective.
Echoes of my past disappearing into the distance.

[ Shot using the TTV technique : canon 1000D, 18 – 55mm canon lens, vintage kodak duaflex II, weird plastic contraption made from duct tape & an 2 litre ice-cream container, additional TTV texture by grittypix from the flickr TTV group pool ]

amazing how photography can match so closely with your feelings… this is gorgeous, Rosemary is a longing for those whom we have had to say goodbye to .

  • That’s a very touching observation Isa, I’m so pleased you see it that way, Thankyou xx

How awesome! Love the soft focus, accentuated by the title so well. I definitely look down a road or rail tracks and think the same thing too. Journey completed one way and journey to come in the other direction. Great typography on this one too, the title twice.. so clever my friend!!

  • Ahh, I’d love to say the soft focus is completely intentional, but you know how TTV can be. But it worked in this one….. I really didn’t want it sharp. In my mind I saw everything shimmering off into the distance, & hoped I could make it work in reality.
Glad you like the typography….. I don’t often use it, (in fact it took me ages to remember how to use the tools!), but I thought it would work here.

Thanks so much for your support Andrew. You’re always such an encouragement to me. Your’e a big shining light in the darkness of creative slumps ;-)

Really nice work Rosemary…love the gear list too. (I’d love to see a shot of the duct tape/ice cream container gadget!!) Looking at this makes me wanna hear some classic Johnny Cash. “I hear the train a comin’… it’s rollin’ round the bend…”

  • hehe, actually the gadget looks quite respectable compared to some. I used a plan that someone on flickr made. It’s still bright blue & held together with duct tape though…… that’s the fun of TTV photography.

Glad you like the image, here’s a little Johnny Cash for you :))

You made me remember how, as a child, I used to look out at the back window of the car on the long trips our family took to grandpa’s farm. Lovely picture too.

  • Yes, I remember those trips….. watching the world disappear behind us.
I love it when art evokes memories. Hope the are good memories for you :))
