Go blue for Autism in April
Monday 2 April 2012, is World Autism Awareness Day. Today iconic buildings across Australia and the world will turn their lights blue for the entire month of April to promote Autism awareness.
For those very special individuals who live with an Autism Spectrum Disorder – the children, their families and the educators and therapists who give so much of their time to make sure these children have a place in our world, my previously purple hair has gone blue in support of Autism for the month of April.

huge thanks to the coffeeshopblog for the delicious little photoshop action to make me feel a bit spesh – I’ve got sparkly eyes and dewy skin! sigh :)

way to go Rosemary! I don’t think I’ll be dying my hair blue, but I’ll try to lend support in another way.
Cheers Hege!!

I will not be dyeing my hair blue, since I am retired no one sees me so no good reason for me to do it. However Autism is very close to our hearts and HERE is why.
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful story of Jake with us Byron. You’ve perfectly demonstrated why it’s so important to raise awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Gorgeous photo Rosemary and I LOVE your blue streak for a very worthy cause. For those who aren’t able to go blue for a month (in Australia), I heard an ad on TV earlier that co-incides with this post. It’s DRAWTISM :Play Pictionary for Autism – support & donate during the month of May. Thanks Rosemary, I’ll have to see if blue shows in my hair. :)
Ooh yes Drawtism is a great idea. We plan to do it this year now that the boys are old enough to understand the concept of the game. Can you believe we’ve had an unopened Pictionary box on our shelf for 7 years?
Should be lots of fun and such a good cause!

It was TODAY?
damn, I m iss it every year! … and I am ASD!!!
I think its funny [funny haha] that we choose one colour in the spectrum [blue] … its irony [ ? } … its a “spectrum”, but its blue.
ok, maybe not that funny.
Maybe I have been playing D&D on my Xbox too much today.
Hey, I know an ASD joke…
Q: What is the collective-noun for a group of Aspies?
A: “Unlikely”
hahahaha,
Hehehe, your collective noun makes me chuckle. I’ve always thought that taking the first step to getting to an Aspergers support group must be excruciating.
Being able to laugh at the things that hold you up is at least some of the battle taken care of :)
Thanks for dropping in Byron :D
