never played chess in my life,,,, but love this image,,, fantastic tones and textures,,, well done Rosemary
Rosemary Scott replied
Thanks Wendy, I’ve never played either….never known anyone who could teach me!
Don’t know if I’m much of a strategist either :))

Thankyou Kathy :))
Dragan Petrovic
Beautiful image…makes it look as if it is a static, stale game, though.
Rosemary Scott replied
Glad you like it Dragan, Thankyou.
Sadly I have no idea what state the game was in ….. I don’t know how to play…..:))

So nice of you Zuzana, Thankyou very much :))

This is so beautiful. I love the texture and just the contrast of the black piece against the white ones. Great shot … as always!!
Rosemary Scott replied
Thanks so much Caroline. I’ve had this shot for a while & kept forgetting about it…. I’m pleased I finally remembered it !

I like this picture. I used to play chess on the Web a few years ago and it was fun, although stressful. But my pieces didn’t have such texture and arrangement. It’s beautiful but if this King doesn’t move over fast enough, it will be checkmate… unless His Majesty is running after the brave little white soldier!
Rosemary Scott replied
I’m glad you have some idea about what’s going on, because I have no clue!! I’ve always wanted to learn the game….. but being married to a soldier means I usually get destroyed in strategy games!!!

Fabulous find & capture Rosemary – love the contrast & comp – texture really adds to the mood !! Play occasionally with Dan & the boys – I never win – very frustrating (lol) !! LOVE IT !! :)
Rosemary Scott replied
Thanks so much Deb! This is actually in Hyde Park…. it was Australia Day, with a large crowd standing around watching the chess…. I wondered if I was the only one who had no idea what was going on LOL!!
It’s nice that you know how to play….. we bought a chess board with the intention of teaching ourselves….. still haven’t done it though….

Great shot, Rosemary. I agree that the simple things are over looked. My world is small..so I have to try to get creative with the simple things around me. Love you works.
Rosemary Scott replied
Thanks very much for taking a look Carmen. :))

Rosemary this shot has mesmerized me … are these pieces very large??? They look almost human sized!!!!! SO COOL!!!!!!! Gorgeous textures and muted colors … very well found and shot, hon!!!
Rosemary Scott replied
yes they are quite large…. I guess they’re about waist height, & not too heavy…. easy enough to move around the board.
Glad you like it Lois :))
Steve Sharp
Ooh, I love this one (and I love chess). The autumnal leaves scattered across the board give it a kind of mournful mood.
Rosemary Scott replied
Sorry for the tardiness of my response Steve…... somehow I missed you lovely comment.
I sadly don’t know how to play chess, but have always thought there’s such romance to a chess board…... I love your ‘mournful” reference…. suits my ideas about chess perfectly :))

There is a haunting, elegiac mood to this shot. I’ve favourited it immediately. Looks like it’s just waiting for someone to come and move a piece …. and play against the ghosts.
Rosemary Scott replied
What a wonderful thing to say…... I agree with you…. it seems sorrowful somehow.
Playing with the ghosts…. I love it, Thankyou :))
