willow
I love the Willow Pattern….. I have fond memories of finding hundreds of broken willow pattern shards buried in the dirt near my home as a young child. It was the site of an old homestead that burnt to the ground many years before my time.
I’d spend hours digging in the dirt thinking I’d found some exotic treasure….....
“Two birds flying high,
A Chinese vessel, sailing by.
A bridge with three men, sometimes four,
A willow tree, hanging o’er.
A Chinese temple, there it stands,
Built upon the river sands.
An apple tree, with apples on,
A crooked fence to end my song.”
by Mary L. Stollard
The Willow Pattern was designed by Thomas Minton around 1790, & has remained popular ever since.

This is great Rosemary. Glad to see new work from you! I’m trying to come up with ideas to do a calendar of mugs (I have quite a collection, let’s just say!) so this reminds me that I need to get cracking!! Hope you are doing well.
Rosemary Scott replied
Hi Caroline, great to hear from you. I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump lately, so not so many uploads…. can’t wait to see your mugs!!

Love this Rosemary, such a creative shot..I mean most people wouldn’t leave the bit of coffee in the cup..and I think it really makes this shot..
Rosemary Scott replied
Thank you so much Kim….. it’s funny you mention the left-over coffee. The cup actually started out clean but the shot looked dull, so I added some coffee….. couldn’t help myself! :D

FABULOUS cup composition Rosemary – love the placement / angles – leading lines – really well composed – works beautifully with the texturing – clever girl !! I love the accompanied words :)
Rosemary Scott replied
Hi Deb! Hope your weekend is looking good :D
Thanks for such a lovely comment…. glad you like the texturing! I’m doing so much of it lately that I think I need to get back to straight photography…..really need to work on those basic skills :))

I hope you find some inspiration soon because I sure miss seeing some new things from you. I find it a little frustrating when you are in such a mood to play with the camera but can’t for the life of you figure what to take a picture of!
Rosemary Scott replied
Awww, Thanks Caroline, you’re very sweet :D
When I’m in a slump I quite often force myself to pick up the camera, but sadly, I usually end up with rubbish!
