What I do
I am a serious hobbyist/enthusiast who tends to spend too much of his salary and time on cameras :) I love shooting pretty much anything, and am always up for a challenge. I’ve always had an interest in the miniature life of the world, bugs, so the macro lens comes out whenever an opportunity arises. I have a studio setup that I use for portrait shoots, and I dabble with landscapes; I am particularly fond of panoramic landscapes. I am also often seen wandering events such as Rally SA with a telephoto in hand, striving for that action-packed catch. Of all subjects, my favourite is definitely wildlife. Hence I was in heaven in early ’08 when I ventured to Africa for an extended holiday.

In the beginning
I was always a happy snapper through my teen years, but it took a trip to Port Douglas in north Queensland for me to realise my passion for photography as well as catch the epidemic while I was at it…. the travel bug! A colleague at work selling his old DSLR caught my interest and intrigue, and after a conversation and a testing of the camera I came back the following day and said I’d buy it. Too bad, I was too late; somebody else had nabbed it up that morning. Nevertheless the taste of the DSLR had already wet my appetite, so within a week or so I’d picked up my first DSLR, a Canon 300D. Since that time, in May ‘06, I’ve taken it upon myself to delve into the depths of photography. After reading a book and articles all over the web, I gained the confidence to jump out of the automatic mode within the first few weeks and have never looked back.

Success in Royal Adelaide Show 2011

I got some fantastic news in the post today regarding my entries in the Royal Adelaide Show 2011! / My image ‘Behemoth’ placed first in the Large Monochrome Print section and also won the Champion Large Monochrome Print. And if I wasn’t already chuffed enough about that I just noticed at the bottom of the results sheet that I also won the most successful exhibitor in the Large P…

10,000 viewers

I’ve just cracked 10,000 views of all my images combined (125 of them). Hoorah! :) / A big thank you to everyone who has stopped by to view my images, and especially to those who have commented. / I also surpassed 100 features a couple of weeks ago, so thanks to all those hosts who have hosted my work in their groups. And most importantly, thanks to the makers/maintainers of RedBubble! :)

Finally, my redbubble is active!

It’s been a long time coming. After signing up for a look-see at what all the fuss was about in June 2008, it has taken me 2 years and 2 months before uploading my work. I had always intended to, but then my thoughts would lie elsewhere for a while and I’d never get around to it. I was previously submitting my images to other free gallery sites, but all of these have dried up… a…
