mixed media on watercolor paper
11 × 13.5 inches

i stood alone at the brink
but i was not alone for the wind was with me
she told me to be brave
as her air filled my lungs
i disintegrate back into the stars
without illusions of the maize people
i am home and it is beautiful

this piece is one that i actually started around four years ago and the task of cutting and gluing those 170 tiny squares kept it at the bottom of the pile. in my newer work i am incorporating a higher lever of physical difficulty in order to embed myself deeper into the piece. by creating images with multiple cut out elements of heavy watercolor paper or drawing countless lines with a ruler, it is a form of both meditation and penance. this is my artistic version of climbing mountains (which is another passion of mine).

tree, ink, puffy clouds, watercolor

Love your words, love this piece! The green is fresh and lovely, and the myriad of pieces flying out in the wind is beautifully depicted. I think I needed this today!
