mixed media on wood.
the air is thick and yellow by the flourescent porch light.
the evasive nature of sleep once again forces dreams to escape.
they flow like the rain from the roof edge.
into the world of those mostly awake.
try to be clever and fast enough to catch one.
it was only a fragment of the whole.
grab at the many tiny fragments; thoughts
no more captured than the wetness of denim from a falling drop.
just a hint of what it was.
still something new.

that was my jaw dropping…
your words, scott…
i lost my words…
haunting image too…
scott allison replied
thanks big sis!
i was trying to grasp some essence of the experience when i was working on this (which i started alongside “downpour” but just finished this week) into the late nights which have been rainy. insomnia is my gift that enables me to be productive… sure makes the day job difficult sometimes though… :)
Alvaro Sánchez
love the use of textures dear Scott, you certainly perfect the art…love this images and the tones.. not to say the black crow there always observing..something
scott allison replied
thanks sanchez! it is proving itself to be a diffucult image to capture because of the textures…
those pesky birds are always looming about!
Alvaro Sánchez
but the image looks great..
and oh sorry its a pesky bird! hahaah ohh sanchez you and your always obscure vision of things…thinking about crowes! hahahahah! cheers!
Arletta
No; I can see your point! Left to it’s own devices, this is interesting enough to catch the eye .. and keep it. But, if it is intended to go with the words, it doesn’t quite work.
I do like it, but I shall be looking forward to the improvement, all the same.
By the way, love the writing!

Hey scott this is a masterpiece!!!!! I don’t know how you want to make this on better!!!!???
But let’s see!!

better bigger, but frustrating when things are hard to photograph. those textures remind me of cheese graters…. and your bird, hhmmm. you really must do a tuna tin with a bird in it!

insomnia…the gift that makes one productive but makes the day job difficult…. I haven’t done an all night creative stint for years, but I know how good they can be….when you are going you just have to keep going. Life doesn’t allow them often. What’s the day job?
scott allison replied
insomnia has been something i have dealt with since i can remember… i really don’t mind. there is so much to get done and not enough time. sleep steals my productivity… but the dreams are worth it.
i sit in a cubicle during the day… and have to wear a headset.

love it…....dont change it!!!
George Lenz
beautiful imagery… well done…

ah ha ! i see you’ve changed the image… less reflection, but less sharp as well and darker and flatter too… what do you think? i did not mind the reflection that much at all… if viewed in person, one would see them anyways, right? that made the texture more prominent. but then again being darker creates more ambience… : )
scott allison replied
i am still working with it but i am happier with this one. the actual painting is darker like this. i have always felt that the texture is something that is the aspect that is experienced firsthand when someone views a piece in person…
i will see if i can get it better still :)
Soxy Fleming!
It’s wonderful that your out of work life can be so creative, and you must have good dreams
