Dry Dock Reflections

Port Orford (Oregon) has a dry dock that hoists fishing boats in and out of the small harbor when not in use. A dry dock is needed because of high winds, rough seas, extreme tides, and rapidly forming sand bars. Beyond the dock is the jetty, made from large rocks. The low point in the jetty was caused by a severe storm, when 40 foot waves washed the rocks off. If you look closely, you can also see the green jetty light, which was knocked over even though it has a large cement base.
